Skilled Trades

Minimum requirements:

  • Want to live outside the province of Quebec. (Note: The province of Quebec selects its own skilled workers).
  • It is necessary to reach the minimum level of knowledge of the languages spoken in Canada through an IRCC-approved test (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada). The test will verify the knowledge in four categories: speech, reading, understanding and writing.
  • Have at least two years of full-time work experience (or an equal amount of part-time work experience). Professional experience must be within five years from the date of application.
  • Have a job offer approved by Service Canada or license to occupy the profession issued by the provincial or federal government. Up to two employers can commit to offering full-time work for at least a year, that is, a total of at least 30 hours of work a week.

1. Professional Experience

It has to be in one of the groups below the 2011 National Occupational Classification (NOC), type B:

  • Major Group 72, industry, electrician and construction,
  • Major Group 73, maintenance and operation of commercial equipment,
  • Major Group 82, Supervisors and Technical Works on Natural Resources, Agriculture and Production
  • Major Group 92, processing, factories, supervisors and operators of central controls,
  • Minor Group 632, chefs and cooks, and
  • Minor Group 633, butchers and bakers.

2. Educational level

There is no educational requirement for this program. However, points are earned for Express Entry.

3. Proficiency in English and / or French

It is necessary to achieve the minimum level of knowledge of the languages spoken in Canada (CLB) 5 in the categories of speech and understanding. (CLB) 4 in the reading and writing categories.
