Sponsorship

It is possible to bring parents, grandparents, spouses, partners and children as permanent residents to Canada, if you are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, you are over 18 years of age and live in Quebec and meet the requirements of the province.

People to be sponsored may already be living in Canada or not. However, depending on the current residence, the type of application to be used will be defined.

Individuals who will be sponsored must meet the eligibility requirements: take medical exams and provide criminal history records.

The sponsor will not be considered eligible if:

  1. Failing to comply with the sponsorship terms of the past,
  2. Failure to pay child support ordered by a court
  3. Receive social assistance for any reason other than disability
  4. Have been convicted of crimes of a sexual, violent, or personal nature
  5. Was sponsored as a spouse less than five years ago after March 2012
  6. Did not pay immigration loan
  7. Is arrested
  8. Declared bankruptcy and has not yet cleared the name

Other circumstances not listed above may also prevent the sponsorship of relatives.
