Canadian Passport

To apply for a new Canadian passport you must be a Canadian citizen and be at least 16 years of age. In addition, the following should be included with the application:

  1. Proof of Canadian citizenship (original only)
  2. Identity document
  3. Identical passport photos

All documents must be submitted in French or English. If a document is in another language, an official translation must be provided.

For new passport there is a need for a guarantor to sign the photos and documents that will be sent.

The name of two references of persons who have known the applicant for at least two years should also be provided. You can not be a member of the family.

To renew your Canadian passport, the current passport must:

  • Be valid or have expired for not more than one year;
  • Have the same name, gender, date of birth and place of birth
  • Have been issued with validity of 5 years or 10 years;
  • Do not be damaged;
  • Never been declared lost or stolen, and
  • Have been issued when the applicant was at least 16 years of age.
