As of May 1, 2017, Brazilian citizens may request an eTA (electronic travel authorization) if: they have had a Canadian visa in the last 10 years; or have a valid US nonimmigrant visa.
For Brazilian citizens who do not meet the eligibility criteria for an eTA, it will be necessary to apply for a visitor visa to travel to Canada
IRCC proposes to increase the maximum age of children accompanying the main candidate in the application for permanent residence. Currently, single children under the age of 19 can be included in the application. The intention is to allow more immigrants to bring their children with them, and reduce the need for multiple applications within a family. No definite age was the proposal for change.

As of November 9, 2016 it will no longer be possible to board Canada without Eta.
Canadian Immigration Minister John McCallum has stated his intention to “substantially increase” the number of new immigrants to Canada in order to fill the labor shortage, with a three-year immigration plan to be unveiled in that autumn.
“We are moving to reduce some of the barriers in our immigration system … we believe they can be simplified, we think there are some rules that are no longer needed,” added McCallum.
“Now we’ll have to convince Canadians about it, but I think that’s a good idea.”
Ottawa, June 13, 2016 – As part of its commitment to family reunification, the Government of Canada will grant permanent residence to more spouses, partners and dependent children of Canadian citizens and permanent residents that year. This will significantly reduce the accumulation of existing orders and accelerate the processing time of future applications.
This year, the Government increased the number of spaces allowed for spouses, partners and dependent children from 14 000 to 62 000 spaces.
It is not necessary to contact immigration. Just make sure your information is up-to-date and if you are contacted by immigration respond within the deadline stated in the correspondence. The success of the operation also depends on the applicant’s help.
Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) is returning fees paid to the Department related to permanent residence applications in the Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) category in accordance with the cumulative application elimination note that was announced in 2012.
